It’s another 2-1 smartphone Lens

Thanks for visiting my channel, this is where I share my thoughts feedback on tech items or gadgets that I use or pique my interest.

When I learned from King Riot, one of our viewers, that the BC-Master 2-1 lens has been discontinued, I was sincerely disappointed as it was really a great smartphone camera. I did try to find in amazon and other sites, but yeah, it’s either out of stock or no option to buy.
So, I just thought of looking for any potential replacement to suggest to you guys.

Then I came across an interesting 2-1 lens kit. TODI 4k Lens for ~$30.00.

Now, it comes in an above average packaging, which actually tends to give you the feel that it is premium. Unboxing you will be greeted with the 2-1 Lens sporting a lens cap and beside it is the Lens clip which is the main reason why I bought this lens. I was curious about this lens clip system they have as it’s not the traditional clip but more a screw-clamp.
I would like to point out that I appreciate that their lens has a Lens Cap on both ends, that’s a plus point for you TODI.

Wide-Angle - 110 degrees
Macro - 15x zoom with shooting distance of (1.18'' to 2.36'')

Before we look at the photos, in order to attach the lens to the smartphone, I actually found that it would be better to premount the lens to the clip so that you can mount it and align it as perfect as you can by checking your smartphone display.
Once you have it aligned, you can now unscrew the lens and keep it on it’s lens bag, leaving the clip/housing on your smartphone.

As you can see, the wide angle does provide additional field of view, BUT looking closely on the pictures, there is a bit of degradation on focus. The center part of the picture is focused but as you move farther from the center, there is a good amount of blur that occurs.

The macro shots on the other hand do provide a better zoom compared to the native camera. Comparing it with the Macro mode of the S8+ I am able to get a closer focus with the TODI 4K.

For $30 I do not think this TODI 4k is actually worth it. Though the Macro lens provides a closer view of the subject, majority of consumers will buy this in order to achieve their wide angle shots. Given that it has a big radius of blurr, I will stick with my phone’s native camera if the TODI is the only option.
