At an event in China, Samsung finally took the wraps of the company’s latest flip phone. The device comes with high-end specs and includes the widest aperture ever spotted in a smartphone. At the moment, the exact price has not been revealed but rumours suggest that it might be priced at $2,000. It will be available in Elegant Gold and Platinum color variants.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung W2018 sports a 4.2 inch Super AMOLED front display along with a 4.2-inch full HD inner display which is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered a Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 6GB RAM. It will be available in two storage options - Extreme Edition with 64GB of internal storage and the Collector Edition with 256GB of internal storage.
Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the smartphone comes equipped with a 12MP rear camera with f/1.5 aperture and OIS. The Samsung W2018's f1.5 aperture is said to capture great images in low-light conditions and also allows users to create a higher degree of bokeh effect with a single camera. The smartphone also comes with a 5MP front-facing camera.
Samsung W2018 sports a USB Type-C port and is backed by a 2,300mAh battery. GizmoChina points out that the South Korean company has been launching W series smartphones for raising charity funds for the past ten years and the newly unveiled Samsung W2018 has arrived as a 10th anniversary edition phone.
